Every two years Australia’s biggest contemporary art festival for young emerging artists happens in Melbourne. In 2010, the Next Wave Festival is May 13- 30. Hundreds of young artists will hit Melbourne and make new art work. And Next Wave needs YOU to make things run smoothly.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Next Wave has a range of options and volunteer spots for the Festival: helping install an exhibition; helping at a party downtown; helping us manage our website. In-office, on-site. Marketing, props-making, ticketing, promo, sitting in a gallery; we are looking for all sorts. (Next Wave volunteers get on opening night lists, and other free stuff including a KICK ASS Festival BAG!)

HOW DO YOU SIGN UP?
Download and fill in this registration form. Looks big, but really only takes 5 mins to fill out …ok maybe 7 if you have a beverage in hand…and it’s an essential requirement to be part of the team.

VOLUNTEER vs INTERN?
We have limited intern and hundreds of volunteer positions to fill.

Interns
Start from now and are given a dedicated number of hours per week at Next Wave HQ / OR / working on a particular project, using their unique set of skills. These positions come up on a per need basis, and may continue to do so until the festival – Stéphanie will keep emailing everyone whenever things pop up. All interns are asked to stay on throughout the festival. If you don’t get an intern spot, our apologies, it’s not because you’re not awesome, far from it: there are just more applications than spots to fill. But rest assured we still want and need you! And will embrace you warmly into the volunteer crew.

Volunteers
Some start from April (to help out at the media launch on April 13, for example- we’ll contact vollies who have registered before then) but most are here for the fest: May 13-30. Volunteers make up a whopping 90% of our festival staff. You are absolutely essential in helping us put on shows. You may have some skills, or might want to learn some. We’re happy with either, and hope everyone walks away having seen some great art, got up close to artists, made some friends, and learnt and/or extended skills.
