Ahoy and welcome to the 2008 Next Wave Pegboard, Festival Edition.

If it’s 2008 it must be Festival year—and that means we must be busy. With a veritable horde of staff, interns and artists trudging through this office we already need to replace the lino! And other than making consistently nice cups of coffee we are also currently locking in the Festival program, finalising the timetable, updating our website, developing our new Festival brand and looking out for volunteers.

All the details below.

Our Festival Website – The Beginning

As of today, we have switched over from our organisational website to our new 2008 Next Wave Festival website.

And, as we inch closer to May this site will morph into its own fully functioning beast. What you see now is static—come mid-April this site will be an all bells and whistles Festival Program with stylish wizzbangery like you’ve never seen before in websites (courtesy of our web dynamo Barking Sparrows).

A Call-Out for Festival Volunteers

Doing something for absolutely no pay never sounded so good!
Volunteer at the 2008 Next Wave Festival this year and see the Festival show you are working on FOR FREE! Well, despite the fact that most of the Festival shows are free anyway, volunteering with Next Wave is still a great thing to do, and volunteer positions are now open.

We are now accepting volunteers for various casual shifts between 10–31 May 2008.

Applications close at the end of March 2008!

(From Australian Red Cross Victoria, supporter of the 2008 Next Wave Festival)

The breath of life

When Steve Perkusich saw his son lying face down and bloated in their swimming pool he was frightened but responded quickly by performing CPR. Steve says: “It took ages for him to respond, but finally I saw and heard his heart beat. It took 10-15 minutes for the ambulance to get here so we’re bloody lucky I’d done the first aid training.”

Red Cross first aid training saved his son’s life.

Call 1300 367 428 or visit www.redcross.org.au/firstaid to enrol in your first aid course.

Profits from Red Cross first aid training and products are used to support our work with vulnerable people across Australia and overseas.
