All of us here at Next Wave central are really pleased to send out to the world our new 2008 Next Wave Festival ‘teaser’ poster.
Designed by our Festival designers Chase & Galley, the poster has been distributed to hundreds of Next Wave’s supporters, artists and partners. It is also available across Melbourne in bars, cafes, galleries and city info centres.
The teaser can be downloaded, in PDF version, here.
From our designers, Stuart and Jeremy at C&G:
“The deisgn is based on the way the ‘Closer Together’ theme touches on the complicated relationships between technology, communication, collaboration and confusion (amongst other things), is more a strategy than a series of design pieces.
“The strategy involves constructing statements (both linguistic and visual) from the results of searches in Google and Google Images. This is done by running the Festival theme, Closer Together, through Google. Results from that search offered hundreds of sentences which were then themselves Googled to draw up associated images.“
“The surprising, nonsensical and sometimes poetic results attempt to sometimes question, sometimes challenge and sometimes champion our increasing (personal/professional/unquestioning) reliance on the internet as a holder-of-all-the-answers-to-all-the-questions-in-the-world.“
The complete Festival program and website will be out on the 17th of April.
